Parent & Swimmer Code of Conduct
Our Philosophy
The MVP Dolphins is a summer league swim team serving swimmers ages 6–18. We are a competitive team in spirit, meaning:
You do not need to be fast
You do need to be committed
Every swimmer — regardless of speed — contributes to the success of the team
This is a team sport, not an individual one
Our goal is to create a fun, supportive, and positive environment where swimmers learn, improve, compete, and grow — both in and out of the pool.
Team Eligibility & Commitment Expectations
Swimmers must be able to swim 25 meters continuously to be eligible for the team.
Families must volunteer at at least two (2) swim meets or other events during the season.
Failure to meet these requirements will result in automatic waitlisting for the following season.
These expectations help ensure fairness, team reliability, and a strong community experience for all.
Parent Code of Conduct
Parents and guardians play a critical role in shaping the culture of our team. As role models, your words and actions directly impact every swimmer on deck.
By joining MVP Dolphins, parents/guardians agree to the following:
1. Sportsmanship & Behavior
I will remember that summer swim is for the children, and the primary goals are learning, teamwork, and fun.
I will demonstrate positive sportsmanship, regardless of race outcomes.
I will not yell at, criticize, or belittle any swimmer, coach, official, or volunteer.
I will never argue with officials or coaches during practices or meets.
2. Respect for Coaches & Officials
I understand that coaches are teaching during practices and meets, and I will not interfere or coach from the sidelines.
Any concerns about my swimmer’s experience will be addressed respectfully and privately, not on deck or during events.
I recognize that meet officials are volunteers and deserve courtesy and respect.
3. Volunteer Commitment
I understand that MVP Dolphins is a volunteer-driven program.
I commit to completing at least two (2) volunteer shifts at swim meets or other events during the season.
I will complete any required training (e.g., stroke & turn) as requested.
4. Supporting a Healthy Environment
I will help create a swim environment free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol at all team events.
I will support team policies and expectations, even when it is inconvenient.
5. Making Swimming Fun
I will celebrate effort, improvement, and teamwork — not just placement or speed.
I will help my swimmer enjoy the summer swim experience by being a supportive, positive presence.
Swimmer Code of Conduct
Being an MVP Dolphin means being a good teammate, not just a good swimmer.
All swimmers agree to:
1. Effort & Commitment
I will come to practices and meets ready to listen, learn, and try my best.
I will attend meets when I am available and communicate absences as needed.
I understand that participation matters more than winning.
2. Respect & Sportsmanship
I will treat coaches, teammates, officials, and competitors with respect at all times.
I will not engage in unsportsmanlike behavior such as arguing, taunting, or using inappropriate language.
I will encourage my teammates and celebrate their successes.
3. Team Responsibility
I understand that every swimmer contributes to the team, regardless of speed.
I will stay in the designated team area during meets and listen for my events.
I will be responsible for being ready when it is time to swim.
4. Learning & Growth
I understand that disqualifications (DQs) are part of learning and improving.
I will ask questions, accept feedback, and keep a positive attitude.
5. Fun & Safety
I will help keep swimming fun for myself and others.
I will speak up to a coach or trusted adult if something does not feel right or stops being fun.
A Final Word
MVP Dolphins is a team built on commitment, kindness, and community. You don’t need to be the fastest swimmer — you just need to show up, support the team, and swim with heart.
We’re excited to have you be part of the MVP Dolphins family. 🐬
