Head Coach

Mark Lewis

Mark is a DC native with over 30 years experience coaching athletes at all levels of club, interscholastic, and summer league swimming in the Potomac Valley.  He was a competitive swimmer under St. Albans legendary Coach Oliver “Skip” Grant.  A graduate of Columbia University (1986), he holds a B.A. in English. Coach Lewis, himself, is a PMSL Alum, having swum for the TPDC team from 1970-1981. During that time he was coached by ASCA Level 5 Coaches E Jane Stafford and John Flanagan. Coach Mark has synthesized the detailed technical instruction, the discipline work ethic, and the joy of competition that he experienced in his youth into a team philosophy: "Fun in Pursuit of Excellence."

Associate Coach

Reese Samuel

Coach Reese was born in Reston, Virginia and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has been swimming for 13 years. He swam for Upper St Clair High School and Howard University, where he was a state champion and conference champion, respectively. He has been coaching for 3 seasons with The Capitol Sea Devils, MVP Dolphins, and, more recently, Georgetown Day School during the high school season. He enjoys coaching all ages and skill levels. From teaching someone how to float to training someone for an end-of-year meet. He loves to do it all. His main goal is to make swimming fun and enjoyable for all while helping them become the best athletes they can be. He is very excited to start his 3rd season with the team and meet all the new swimmers and parents! Go Dolphins!

Assistant Coach

Max Scott

Coach Max was born and raised in Washington, DC. He began competitive swimming at the age of 9 with the MVP Dolphins, then swam for Sea Devils and DC Wave until he graduated high school. At MVP he was multiple time divisionals and all-star qualifier, as well as a Sectionals qualifier with DC Wave. He has been coaching at MVP for 4 summers and comes back year after year because of the family environment. He has made some of his best friends and memories while on the team and hopes to bring that same energy back the pool deck every day with the hope that every kid has the same amazing experience! Assistant Coach

Madeline Snyder

Coach Madeline brings over ten years of competitive swimming experience. She swam for Mt. Lebanon High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and continued at the club level at the University of Virginia, where she studied Spanish Literature and Biochemistry. She has spent several years teaching swim lessons and coaching summer league teams in the Pittsburgh area, helping swimmers of all ages and abilities develop skills, build confidence, and foster a love for the sport. Outside of the pool, Madeline works as a research fellow studying immunology. In her free time, she enjoys exploring the DC restaurant scene and running along the National Mall. She is excited to be part of the DC swimming community and looks forward to supporting athletes in reaching their goals while cultivating a positive and inclusive team environment.
